Metal Seat Eccentric Butterfly Valve
What is triple Eccentric Butterfly Valve?
Traditional hard seal butterfly valves do not guarantee sealing performance and have a large leakage volume. In order to change this situation, the hard seal butterfly valve has been invented after many iterations, triple eccentric butterfly valve (also known as triple eccentric butterfly valve). triple eccentric butterfly valve features a seat sealing surface layer welded with high temperature and corrosion resistant alloy material, and a multi-layer soft seal ring fixed on the butterfly plate. This process makes the triple eccentric butterfly valve more resistant to high temperature, high pressure and corrosion than conventional butterfly valves.
Specifically, the triple eccentric structure using the hard seal butterfly valve
The unique triple eccentric design makes the metal hard seal easier to start. triple eccentric butterfly valve opens and closes with no friction between the valve flap and the valve body during rotation. When the triple eccentric butterfly valve is closed, the torque of the drive mechanism can be increased to provide compensation. This greatly improves the sealing performance of the triple eccentric butterfly valve and extends its service life.
Three offsets
The first offset is that the valve shaft is behind the flap axis, allowing the seal to close completely across the valve seat.
The second offset is that the valve shaft centerline is offset from the pipe and valve centerline to avoid interference with valve opening and closing.
The third offset is that the seat taper axis is offset from the valve shaft centerline, eliminating friction during closing and opening and achieving a uniform compression seal around the entire seat.
The above is the introduction of triple eccentric butterfly valve. It is a high-performance butterfly valve currently used in many fields, and has even replaced gate valves, globe valves, ball valves and other products in some fields.
Operation of triple eccentric butterfly valve
The FCA triple eccentric butterfly valve is designed to withstand such conditions that do not allow the use of soft seated butterfly valves when used in severe applications such as high temperatures or high opening and closing frequencies where a central shaft or eccentric butterfly valve does not provide the correct performance.
This type of design allows for operation at low torque and the metal seal ensures perfect thermal shock or pressure spikes. The zero leakage of our triple eccentric butterfly valve is achieved by means of a composite stainless steel seal mounted on the butterfly plate. The unique triple eccentric principle is used to achieve a zero friction right angle rotation design. It eliminates friction between the seat and seal ring during 90º rotation.
Advantages of triple eccentric butterfly valve
As a butterfly valve, it also belongs to the quarter family. It is also lightweight and easy to operate. Installation is also a breeze, as less pipe support is required. Since the triple eccentric butterfly valve is top inlet, it is also easy to replace the seat ring.
The triple eccentric butterfly valve has a low torque, so there is no need for a larger valve. That said, this means higher cost savings. triple eccentric butterfly valves have zero leakage shutoff at both ends.
The introduction of soft seats adds value to the valve. In addition to being fire resistant due to the metal seat beneath the soft seat, the valve is now self-aligning due to the resilient seat material.
Difference between double eccentric butterfly valve and triple eccentric butterfly valve
One of the main differences between these two butterfly valves is their appearance. In the double eccentric butterfly valve, the two eccentricities of this valve allow for easy opening while maintaining its strong sealing force.
Configuration
The offset of the disc can be found in two areas.
Slightly to the right of the valve centerline.
Slightly closer to the center of the valve body, where the stem is attached to the valve flap.
The first offset provides a continuous seal, while the second allows the valve to open with virtually no friction, thus increasing its service life.
On the other hand, the triple eccentric butterfly valve is so called because it has three offsets located in three different positions. You can best understand these if you look at the diagram below.
The center of the disc and seat.
On the centerline of the bore and connected to the stem.
The offset is located on the centerline of the valve, which becomes the axis of the seat taper angle.
